Senate Bill 37 added language to Texas 教育 Code, sections 37.152和32.155, related to the reporting of hazing violations. The language removes the requirement for reporting knowledge of hazing to the university or law enforcement to be in writing; adds law enforcement to the list of organizations or individuals who can receive the report; 和 includes entities supporting an organization as eligible for immunity from civil or criminal liability when reporting hazing.

Reactions you might have:

Reactions to being hazed vary. Two people who go through the same experience might feel quite differently. Some people feel relatively positive about going through hazing (seeing it as an achievement), 有些人感到有点恼火, 和 others have strong negative reactions. Reactions depend on the extent of the hazing, individual characteristics, 和 past experiences. For people who have been abused in the past, hazing can be re-traumatizing.

• 愤怒, 混乱, 背叛, 恐惧, 怨恨, 尴尬, 羞辱, 绝望, 无助, anxiety 和 depression are all normal reactions to being hazed. Some individuals have become suicidal.
• Physical consequences can include exhaustion, headaches, hangovers, illnesses, injuries, 和 scars.
• It's common to believe that things won't get worse, though they often do.
• You may want the hazing to stop, but don't want to get the group in trouble.
• 你可能想离开, but 恐惧 the consequences or feel like you've invested too much already to walk away.
• Self-blame can occur 和 is fueled by hazer's who tell new members that they will let others down if they leave or tell anyone what is going on.

YOU MUST CONTACT THE STUDENT ACTIVITIES OFFICE, 学生办公室主任, OR LOCAL POLICE IF YOU ARE HAZED IN ANY WAY. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD RESULT IN YOU BEING ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH A CRIME.
