To participate in 咨询中心 services you must be a currently registered student. A registered student can initiate services by visiting the counseling center anytime between 9am-11am and 1pm-2:30pm to initiate services. No appointment is needed for this initial appointment. During this initial 20 minute screening students will have an opportunity to discuss their presenting concerns and the clinician will match them to an appropriate counseling center service.

The SHSU 咨询中心 offers a number of different options to help students enhance their well-being. Your clinician believes that some of these options may be especially helpful in meeting your own goals.

Your clinician may recommend one or more of the following service modalities:

研讨会 – 研讨会 are tailored to address common concern of college students. 研讨会 are conduced year round on stress management, 焦虑, 情绪管理, 成功的关系, 更好的睡眠, mindfulness and general adjustment. 研讨会 are offered at various times throughout the semester and require no advance registration.

集团 - 集团 therapy offers a unique opportunity to build community, 探索你的需求, 分享你的经历, 为他人提供支持, and develop strategies to combat many different problems.

单一的会话 – Single sessions are designed to address specific concerns in one single session. These sessions are designed to be goal oriented and solution focused.

个别咨询 & 夫妻咨询 – Brief counseling sessions (45-50 minutes) provides an opportunity to work collaboratively with a clinician toward resolving matters that are systemic in nature. 咨询 sessions are scheduled at various intervals (weekly, 每两周, monthly) based on treatment goals.

咨询 – 咨询 provides an opportunity to address unique concerns related to treatment, referral and access to resources. 咨询 is a useful way to gather information and formulate next steps toward reaching one’s goals. 咨询 may also be used to explore ways one might be supportive to a friend or member of the university community in need of mental health services.

病例管理 & 推荐 – Case management services can assist students who need assistance connecting with outside providers and students who need help navigating community resources.
